About us

Phat Plastic is a disruptive fashion-technology enterprise with a mission to bring brands into the circular economy.
Founded by a team of four design engineers from Imperial College London, we convert take-make-waste into infinite value through tackling multiple faults within the fashion industry. We know that time is running out and that the planet cannot wait any longer. So we developed three key innovations to empower fashion brands and retailers to create big environmental changes.

Circularity is the future of fashion

Let us join forces in supporting your business’ transition. Moving over to a circular model is a large feat for any business, so allow us to simplify that process for you. A partnership with Phat Plastic means that we will handle the manufacturing, reclaiming and recycling of our garments, while all you need to do is sell to the customer and gain a lot of brownie points in the process from doing your bit for the planet. It is time to make the cycle.

Our core principles

Phat Plastic’s novel textile eliminates the exploitation of our dwindling natural resources. Our PHA is derived from waste, drawing value from an under-utilised source. Our in-house manufacturing method is designed to eliminate waste creation and improve the traceability of our garments. We believe in and align with ethical guidelines for now and forever.

We proudly work to deliver on two of the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals

20% of all garments must be traded circularly by 2030 to avoid a 2°C rise in global temperatures

The fashion industry is cemented within a
take-make-waste model that is destroying our planet.
Polyester is a major culprit for these sobering statistics, producing 2.66 kg of CO2 with every kilo. There is no denying that polyester is a staple within the textile industry and cannot simply be eliminated. There were no viable alternatives. Until now.

4 Reasons to
partner with us

1. A next-generation material
PHA is a textile of the future. This naturally-derived bio-based and biodegradable material mimics the quality of a regular polyester while producing 80% less CO2.
2. Waste-free manufacturing
Traditional clothing manufacturing methods pass through many hands, offering poor traceability and little accountability. Our disruptive manufacturing technique eliminates the in-between steps, allowing garments to be completely produced in-house in the UK, and give you the edge with innovative constructions
3. Reverse logistics covered
We handle the logistics of reclaiming garments by communicating directly with the customer. There is no heavy lifting on your end (...but we’ll still give you bragging rights).
4. Repeat business
By using our traceable and circular system, customers will know that you are taking climate change seriously. Even more, by partnering with us, your customers will be incentivised to return back to you.
